The Chinese Proficiency Courses and Tests, Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi or HSK, are The People's Republic of China's only standardized Chinese courses for non-native speakers.
HSK Level 3 is designed for learners who can use Chinese to serve the demands of their personal lives, studies and work, and are capable of completing most of the communicative tasks they experience during their Chinese tour.
HSK Level 3 - Threshold
After the completion of HSK level 3, the learner should learn 600 words cumulatively (about 623 characters), should understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc, can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where Chinese is spoken, can produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest, can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes & ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.
